Collector’s Note

Green Patina is a hand knotted wool rug that has been overdyed in layered shades of green, creating a tonal surface where the original floral pattern appears through a soft, washed veil of color. The rug was woven using traditional Persian techniques, with a tightly knotted wool pile that responds well to the overdye process, allowing the motifs and ground to merge into a unified palette.

Overdyed rugs originate from contemporary reworking of older carpets, a practice that preserves the underlying craftsmanship while giving the piece a modern, monochromatic character. The floral lattice and scrolling vines visible beneath the dye reflect classical Persian workshop traditions, now reinterpreted through a fresh, saturated hue.

This rug suits contemporary or transitional interiors, especially spaces that benefit from a statement of color without heavy visual contrast. Its green tones pair well with natural woods, stone, and neutral textiles, bringing quiet vibrancy to living rooms, studies, or bedroom settings.
