Product description
This is a Bokhara rug, a design that traces its lineage back to the nomadic Tekke tribe of Turkmenistan, but which found a second life in the weaving centers of Pakistan and Afghanistan over the last century. The repeating diamond-shaped medallions down the center (called guls) are like a fingerprint of that heritage. Each one is outlined with delicate detailing, contained within a geometric border that keeps the rhythm steady, almost like a piece of music set into wool.
